A place with a history
The museum at the Westerbork Camp Memorial Center tells the stories of the camp's victims and survivors. Personal stories in exhibitions and films make the story of Westerbork accessible to children. Film footage from 1944, a partially furnished barracks, a final farewell thrown from a train, a large model of the camp, and drawings of children playing provide a glimpse and a sense of this vivid past.
The more than one hundred thousand names of the victims are continuously projected in the museum. In addition to exhibitions, the museum organizes many activities. Special films about the history of Camp Westerbork or the people who were imprisoned there are shown. Museum staff provide explanations of collection items and give lectures. There are also special activities for children.
The last Sunday of every month is reserved for a lecture by an eyewitness: someone who talks about their own experiences during the Second World War.
